FAQ

Q: WHY EYE FOR DESIGN HAIR EXTENSIONS?

A: Eye for Design hair (EFD) extensions are 100% Human hair extensions made from the highest quality Remy hair. Our hair is cuticle intact and aligned in one direction which is why it does not tangle or shed any more than your natural hair. We are one of the few companies that consistently provide amazing hair extensions that our customers can wear for 2 to 5 years. We never get complaints about the quality of our hair.  We take great pride ian being able to provide versatile and beautiful hair extensions to women of all ethnicities. We understand that every woman desire and deserves to feel beautiful and our hair helps them achieve it.

Q: WHY ARE EFD HAIR EXTENSIONS MORE EXPENSIVE?

A: Because of the quality of our extensions.  We don’t provide hair that looks good in the package and then after a few wears or one wash it looks old and begins to tangle and shed. We provide only the highest-grade hair. Our customers can go 2 + years without having to purchase from us again. Only when they want to change up their look do they buy again because our hair looks good from the day you receive it to the day you retire it.

Q: WHAT TYPE OF HAIR IS USED FOR THE EXTENSIONS?

A: Our extensions are 100% Remy Human Hair in our Extensions. Nothing beats the versatility of human hair extensions. It can be straightened with a flat iron, curled with heat, or chemically treated to color the hair. We do not use any synthetic fibers. Thin, fine, or normal hair becomes full and glorious. Short to medium hair transforms to long, luxurious hair. Our hair is ethically sourced.

Q: CAN THE EXTENSIONS BE COLORED?

A: Yes, our hair can be colored or toned if required. As a general rule it is easier to darken the hair than to lighten the hair. Blonde hair has already been bleached so more caution must be taken when carrying out a coloring / toning process. This includes using toning shampoos (silver/purple shampoo/conditioner). We highly recommend having your hairdresser who has experience coloring extensions color/ tone the extensions as you will get the results you want. Coloring or toning the hair always poses a high risk of not coming out the shade you want.  Always test a small sample first & wash the hair prior to coloring. Please note that coloring or toning the extensions is done at your own risk and voids any chance of return. This includes using purple/silver shampoos/conditioners.

Q: HOW DO I PICK THE CORRECT COLOR?

A: For Clip-ins, Tape, Keratin tips, European Wefts, the best way to match your hair is to purchase a color wheel (click here) and color match in the sunlight.  Our policy is that if you buy a color wheel and return we will give you a $25.00 refund if you have purchased extensions before the return. If you haven’t purchased extensions before the return we will email you a $25 credit towards a future purchase.

Q: CAN THE HAIR BE FLAT IRON AND CURLED?

A: Yes, EFD extensions are 100% Human Hair in our Extensions so they can be flat ironed and curled with no damage to the hair. We advise using heat protectant before using hot tools.

Q: HOW OFTEN SHOULD I WASH MY EXTENSIONS?

A: Clip-in hair extensions (all hair extensions) should not be washed often.  They should only be washed when they absolutely needed (product build up).  Hair extensions are not attached to your scalp, so they do not get your natural oils that naturally condition and moisturize the hair.  So it is important not to wash too often.  And when you do wash it, you must ALWAYS use conditioner.  And every few months deep condition your clip-ins. (Click here) for more detailed instructions.

Q: WHY ARE THE CLIPS NOT WORKING?

A: If the clips are not clipping onto your hair it is because the clips were not properly bent.  Bend the clips slightly so that they make more of a U shape so that both ends are more up.  Make sure that you do not bend them all the way into a U shape. This should fix the problem.

Q: WHAT DO I DO WHEN THE CLIPS FALL OFF?

A: The clips are sewn into the weft of hair so after several uses (just like buttons on a shirt) the thread starts to wear and become loose.  To fix this you will have to re-sew the clips onto the hair.  It is best to sew it as soon as they feel loose.  Do not wait until they fall off. You can use any type of thread just make sure that the color of it matches the hair.

Tape-in & Keratin Extensions

Q: HOW MANY PACKS DO I NEED FOR A FULL HEAD?

A: The average head takes about 5 packs of hair for average volume.  For a fuller look it will take 5 -7 packs of hair.

Q: DO SEMI-PERMANENT EXTENSIONS DAMAGE HAIR?

A: When properly installed, taken care of and removed using the best practices with the recommended product and tools, the chances of damage to the natural hair reduce drastically and can be avoided all around.

Q: WHAT LENGTH DOES MY HAIR NEED TO BE FOR EXTENSIONS?

A: To add drastic length with hair extensions, we recommend that the hair is past the occipital bone. If the hair is not past the occipital bone, it’s nearly impossible to achieve a desired blend. Why? If there is not enough length to the natural hair, there is no room to texture or blend the extensions.

General Hair Care

Always use Sulfate-Free products.

These ingredients tend to strip the hair of its natural oils which will make the extensions dry, brittle, and prone to tangling. Instead, use products that are free of sulfates to maintain proper moisture and luster. Along with that, we encourage the use of oils, sprays, and leave-in conditioners applied from midshaft down to promote the health and hydration of your hair.

Wash Your Hair as Little as Possible.

Yes, you read that right. With extensions, you’re able to get away with washing your hair less often. Depending on how oily your scalp is, you can wash your extensions about 3-2 times a week. In between that time you should apply dry shampoo to absorb the extra oils.

Avoid Salty or Chlorinated Water.

Our extensions are 100% Remy Human Hair which means salt and chlorine will cause as much damage to your extensions as they do to your natural hair. It’s best to avoid both altogether. Although we understand no one can resist a trip to the beach or a dip in the pool, so we suggest you protect those precious extensions by wearing a swim cap.

Never Sleep with Wet Hair.

Sleeping with wet hair can and will cause more tangling between the wefts or bonds. This will weaken your extensions, cause extensive shedding and make brushing difficult. (Ouch!) So, before you got to bed, make sure you hair is completely dry and tie it in a loose braid or ponytail.

Q: How much hair do I need for a full sew-in?

A: For lengths 10 – 18” you will need two packs of hair.  For Lengths 18” – 24” you will need three packs of hair.  For lengths 24” – 30” you will need four to five packs of hair depending on how full and think you want your hair. The longer the length of hair, the shorter the width of the track end to end, this means for longer hair you will need more hair for more coverage for more volume and fullness. If  you are unsure of how much to get always go for an extra pack because it’s better to have a little extra rather than not enough during your hair appointment. And whatever you don’t use you can save for your next install or a touch up. Also keep in mind that our curly hair is naturally much more full than straight or wavy hair.
